The State Council approved a plan to establish the Dongting Lake Ecological Economic Zone in a new era, according to an official reply released on Feb 2.

Upholding the new development philosophy and pursuing the building of a new development pattern, the zone is asked to build a harmonious relationship between people and water, and promote green transformation and upgrading of industries.

To build a more attractive and prosperous economic zone, efforts will be made to promote high-quality development, coordinate development and security, and comprehensively deepen reform and opening-up while adhering to innovation-driven development and environmental protection and restoration.
