The National Development and Reform Commission recently issued a notice aiming to build national logistics hubs in 2022. The statement included 25 national logistics hubs, such as the Huaihua Commercial and Trade Service-oriented National Logistics Hub, into the 2022 construction list, according to the Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission on November 21st.

China plans to build about 120 national logistics hubs during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025). Up to now, 95 national logistics hubs have been included in the construction list. Hunan has already had three national logistics hubs: the Changsha land port, Yueyang seaport and Hengyang land port. With the newly added one, Hunan now has four national logistics hubs and is in the front rank nationwide.

The Huaihua Commercial and Trade Service-oriented National Logistics Hub has outstanding multimodal transportation, with railway ports and more than ten railway lines. The hub's freight volume reached 3.5 million tons in 2021. In addition, the hub opened rail-sea combined transport trains to Beibu Gulf and China-Laos and China-Vietnam international freight trains, which has dramatically improved the operational efficiency of the logistics channel network.

The construction of national logistics hubs aims to:
-- integrate existent logistics infrastructure and reduce low-level redundant construction and homogeneous competition;
-- rely on the hubs to build a cross-regional logistics channel, improve the regional collection and distribution system, and improve the integrated operation of mainline/branch line logistics and terminal distribution;
-- build a modern logistics operation system of "channels + hubs + network"; and,
-- promote the accumulation of manufacturing, commerce and trade industries, advance integrated and innovative development of these industries and logistics, and cultivate new drivers for economic development.
