Hunan exported electric vehicles worth 5.49 billion CNY in the first half of 2025, marking a 53.7% year-on-year increase and hitting a record high compared with the same periods of previous years, according to data released by the Changsha Customs Authority. Among them, the province's exports expanded 298.3% to 1.41 billion CNY in June alone.
During the January-June period, Hunan's private enterprises exported electric vehicles valued at 5.4 billion CNY, marking a 56.4% year-on-year increase, while the number of enterprises having actual foreign trade performance grew by 21 to 46. Among them, Changsha BYD Auto Co., Ltd. contributed over 80% to total exports while maintaining a growth of 58.6%, and Sany Special Purpose Vehicle Co., Ltd. achieved a remarkable 56.4-fold surge in exports.
In the first half of the year, electric vehicle exports to Indonesia and Mexico accounted for half of the province's total export volume. Specifically, exports to Indonesia reached 1.52 billion CNY, surging 40.6-fold, while exports to Mexico totaled 1.27 billion CNY, up 57.9%. During this period, exports to the Philippines, the United Arab Emirates, and the Netherlands registered remarkable growth of 26.4-fold, 3.2-fold, and 15.9-fold, respectively.
Changsha emerged as the top electric vehicle exporter in Hunan Province, while Shaoyang demonstrated remarkable growth momentum. From January to June, Changsha exported 5.16 billion CNY of electric vehicles, marking a 68.3% increase and accounting for 94% of the province's total exports. Meanwhile, Shaoyang achieved 160 million CNY in electric vehicle exports, representing a staggering 56.7-fold surge year on year.
Exports of pure electric passenger vehicles maintain strong growth momentum. In the first half of the year, Hunan exported 15,000 pure electric passenger vehicles, representing a remarkable 411.5% increase. The total trade value hit 2.31 billion CNY, marking an extraordinary increase of 605%. Meanwhile, the province exported 27,000 units of plug-in hybrid electric passenger vehicles, showing a growth of 14.1%.
