In the first five months of this year, Hunan exported 1.81 billion CNY of fireworks and firecrackers, increasing by 17.3% year on year and accounting for 57.3% of the national total fireworks export.

At a fireworks factory in Gugang Town, Liuyang City, over 400 workers are rushing to fulfill orders. "We deliver three containers of fireworks on daily average, peaking at over ten containers a day," said a manager of the factory. Ninety percent of the company's products are exported to the overseas markets. Since beginning cooperation with German's leading fireworks company NICO FIREWORKS 11 years ago, this Liuyang factory has progressively become the German company's largest overseas supplier, with the annual sales exceeding 100 million CNY.  

During the January-May period this year, Hunan's fireworks exports to the European market reached 550 million CNY, with significant growth of 108.2%. Exports to several specific European countries saw sharp rises—up 194.7% to Germany, 134.8% to Poland, 334.6% to the UK, 398.1% to the Czech Republic, 247% to Romania, 458.4% to Croatia, and 326% to Denmark. During the same period, fireworks exports to the United States amounted to 800 million CNY, taking up 44.3% of Hunan's total fireworks export value. Exports to ASEAN countries totaled 140 million CNY, while exports to Africa reached 24.05 million CNY.

Water transportation played a primary role in fireworks exports. Between January and May, Hunan's fireworks and firecrackers exported via waterway transportation amounted to 1.78 billion CNY, rising 17.2% over the pervious year and accounting for 98.4% of the province's total fireworks exports during this period. Air transportation offered a new option for export this year. 

Changsha, as a key driver of Hunan's fireworks export, recorded exports of 1.66 billion CNY of fireworks and firecrackers during the January-May period, up 15.1% year on year and accounting for 91.4% of the province's total fireworks export value. Zhuzhou and Changde cities respectively achieved 46.2% and 26-fold growth in their fireworks exports.
