Hunan's Exports of Rail Transit Equipment up 16.9% in First Two Months

Hunan's exports of rail transit equipment increased 16.9% year on year in the first two months of this year to 190 million CNY, statistics from the Changsha Customs Authority showed on March 19, 2025.

Kazakhstan, Germany, and India were the top three export destinations for Hunan's rail transit equipment. Between this January and February, Hunan's exports of rail transit equipment to Kazakhstan amounted to 40.178 million CNY, expanding 402.5 times and accounting for 20.9% of the total value of provincial rail transit equipment exports in the same period. Exports to Germany grew 120% to 37.758 million CNY while those to India surged 737% to 20.815 million CNY.

Zhuzhou became the main export city while Changsha saw remarkable export growth. In the January-February period, Zhuzhou exported 170 million CNY of rail transit equipment, an increase of 15.7% and accounting for 89.3% of the total value of provincial rail transit equipment exports in the same period. Changsha's rail transit equipment exports reached 18.114 million CNY, up 55.8% while Xiangtan's climbed to 2.44 million CNY.

Locomotives or other vehicle parts were the main exported commodities. In the first two months, Hunan exported 130 million CNY of locomotive parts for railways or tramways, accounting for 69.1% of the total value of Hunan's rail transit equipment exports in the same period.
