Hunan's exports of agricultural products expanded 7.7% year-on-year to 21.07 billion CNY in the first 11 months of this year. The total amount reached 1.4 million tonnes, which witnessed a year-on-year increase of 20%, according to the data of Changsha Customs Authority.
Hunan exported 11.97 billion CNY of vegetables and edible fungi during the January-November period, an increase of 3.9% and accounting for 56.8% of the provincial total exports of agricultural products in the same period. Exports of dried and fresh fruits and nuts climbed 83.4% to 2.49 billion CNY.
Hunan's agricultural exports to Japan surged significantly compared to all other export markets. Exports to the United States crawled up 0.7% to 1 billion CNY while those to Japan amounted to 950 million CNY, growing 46.4%.
Yongzhou City contributed the majority of agricultural exports, while Huaihua City surged sharply. In the first 11 months, Yongzhou City exported 12.83 billion CNY of agricultural products, an increase of 5.4% and accounting for 60.9% of Hunan's total exports of agricultural products in the same period. Exported agricultural products of Huaihua City surged 180.1% to 1.25 billion CNY.
The Changsha Customs Authority has implemented the "fruit and vegetable assembling" supervision model reform, which helps promote the quality and efficiency of agricultural exports. The model advances the supervision and sampling of exported fruits and vegetables to the planting and processing procedures. It aims to explore the establishment of a "plantation-processing and packaging-port clearance" customs information interconnection mechanism for fruits and vegetables exported to Hong Kong, elevating the fruit and vegetable clearance efficiency by 30%. The model has been implemented in Yongzhou City since this March and has since been rapidly replicated and promoted in Huaihua City. The efforts have greatly improved the competitiveness of agricultural products from southern and western Hunan regions in the Hong Kong market.
