Hunan exported 3.5 billion CNY of fireworks and firecrackers in the first three quarters, a year-on-year increase of 9.3%, data from the Changsha Customs Authority showed on October 31, 2024.
Changsha's exports of fireworks and firecrackers rose 10% to 3.25 billion CNY during the period, accounting for 92.9% of the provincial total. Zhuzhou's exported fireworks and firecrackers crawled up 0.3% to 250 million CNY.
The European Union (EU) was the largest export market of Hunan Province. During the January-September period, Hunan's exports of fireworks and firecrackers to the EU climbed 23.7% to 1.23 billion CNY, accounting for 35% of the provincial total. The province exported 1.19 billion CNY of fireworks and firecrackers to the United States and 120 million CNY to Africa, up 17.9% and 12.9% respectively.
The exploration of emerging markets yielded positive results. Some developing countries such as Guatemala, Peru, and other Latin American countries, as well as Ghana and other African countries showed gradually emerging demand for fireworks. The consumer demand for fireworks was on the rise, becoming a new growth point for Hunan fireworks exports.
Private enterprises contributed more than 90% to the total exports, boasting the main driving force for the growth of Hunan's exports of fireworks and firecrackers. In the first three quarters, Hunan private enterprises exported 3.24 billion CNY of fireworks and firecrackers, growing by 8.6% and accounting for 92.7% of the provincial total. They contributed to an 8 percentage point increase in the growth of exported fireworks and firecrackers. During the same period, foreign-invested enterprises' exports of fireworks and firecrackers surged 17.7% to 260 million CNY.
