The Hengdong Seal Industry and Cultural Tourism Integrated Development Conference took place at the Hengdong County Seal Cultural and Industrial Park on October 14, 2024.
The conference was the largest event in Chinese seal industry over the past decade. Domestic seal businesses as well as traders from foreign countries and regions including Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and Malaysia participated, witnessing the unveiling of the Chinese Seal Culture Museum Hengdong Exhibition Hall, the Hengdong Research Institute for Seal Industry, and the Hengdong Chamber of Commerce in Seal Industry.
Wen Peng, the founder of Chinese seal carving schools and originally from Hengdong County, is commemorated by a large sculpture located in the square of the Seal Cultural and Industrial Park.
In recent years, the Hengdong County authority has invested two billion yuan in the construction of the Hengdong Seal Cultural and Industrial Park which integrates seal product development and production, seal culture study, and seal carving experience functions. It is divided into four areas, respectively featuring the origin of seal, beauty of seals, charm of seals, and seal carving techniques. The areas feautre a seal e-commerce building, a seal cultural square, and a seal cultural street. The park has been involved into the observation tours of the third Hunan Tourism Development Conference. The first phase of the park has been completed and put into operation. The Seal Building and the Seal Cultural Street have become popular spots for visitors.
At present, there are nearly 200 seal companies in Hengdong County, with their business covering the Chinese seal market. They produce more than 500 types of seal products, taking up 80% of the domestic market. These seal products have been exported to more than 20 countries and regions such as Japan and Malaysia.
So far, nine enterprises have started up business in the park, producing more than 200,000 seals daily, with an annual output value of over 500 million yuan.
