The number of basic necessities grew steadily. From January to February, among the wholesale and retail sale businesses over the designated size, the retail sales of basic necessities reached 25.794 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.2%. Among them, the retail sales of grain, oil, and food, and daily necessities increased by 10.4% and 7.6% respectively.

Accommodation and catering consumption picked up significantly, and the retail sales of the accommodation and catering businesses over the designated size hit 5.17 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.3%.

Upgraded consumption has seen booming growth. The new energy automobile and related commodities showed a 60.2% increase in sales, while the retail sales of books, newspapers and magazines, and office supplies related to cultural events increased by 7.8% and 13.2% respectively.

Chinese and western medicine and petroleum and related commodities maintained double-digit growth, achieving retail sales of 5.645 billion yuan and 21.494 billion yuan, respectively, up 16.0% and 18.2% year-on-year.
