836,800 Tons of Goods Transported Through Railways During Spring Festival

Between February 11 and 18, Hunan railway delivered 836,800 tons of goods in 14,046 carriages, a remarkable increase of 14% and 12% respectively over last year, according to the China Railway Guangzhou Group.

This year, people were advocated to stay where they were during Spring Festival holiday. Thus, the demands for rice, electricity, coal, and subsidiary foodstuff surged. Hunan railway carried out targeted dispatch and increased freight capacity to satisfy essential materials transportation.

The Changsha Freight Center made arrangement in advance, designated responsible personnel, and prioritized loading, in order to ensure smooth and timely transport of festival supplies. Between February 11 and 18, two special trains with 7,214 tons of grain, and 31,498 tons of coal, started off from the Changsha Freight Center, increasing by 185% over last Spring Festival.

Beyond that, the China-Europe Railway Express started off from Changsha to northern and central Europe operated every day, in order to satisfy the international logistics demands of Hunan’s manufacturing and cross-border e-commerce enterprises. During this period, eight trains departed from Changsha towards Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, growing by 166% compared with last Spring Festival. A total of 5,667 tons of lamps, moulds, and textiles were delivered.
