Changsha, Zhuzhou, Xiangtan Ranks Among China’s Top 100 Innovative Cities

The Hunan Innovative Development Research Institute held an innovative development forum at the Hunan University of Science and Technology on January 18. A report on Hunan’s “Innovative Province” construction and innovative development plan for the 14th Five-year Plan period (2021-2025) was released.

The institute ranked 119 Chinese major cities according to their comprehensive innovation capacity in 2018, including their innovative factors, platforms, outputs, and transformation achievements. Changhsa, Zhuzhou, and Xiangtan, are among the top 100, ranking 13th, 57th, and 65th respectively.

Changsha, Zhuzhou, and Xiangtan are the top three among Hunan’s 13 cities and 1 prefecture, following by Yueyang, Loudi, Hengyang, Chenzhou, Yiyang, Changde, Yongzhou, Huaihua, Shaoyang, Zhangjiajie, and Xiangxi successively.

The institute also classified Hunan’s cities and prefecture in terms of comprehensive innovation capacity. Changsha is in the first class; Zhuzhou, Xiangtan, Yueyang, Loudi, and Hengyang are in the second class; and, Chenzhou, Yiyang, Changde, Yongzhou, Huaihua, Shaoyang, Zhangjiajie, and Xiangxi in the third class.
