On the morning of March 29, centralized commencement ceremonies for the second batch of major projects for 2024 were held simultaneously in 13 cities and one prefecture of Hunan Province. A total of 687 projects began construction, with a total investment of 216.7 billion yuan and an annual planned investment of 91.1 billion yuan.
The projects demonstrate large investment, good industrial performance and a strong capacity to drive economic development, mainly in industrial development, infrastructure, people’s livelihood, social welfare, and ecological environmental protection.
There are 397 industrial development projects, with investments totaling 140 billion yuan, accounting for 64% of the total. The projects cover advanced equipment manufacturing, advanced materials, and advanced food, medicine, and textiles. Ninety-one are advanced manufacturing projects, with a total investment of 27.1 billion yuan and an annual planned investment of 13.3 billion yuan.
There are 205 infrastructure projects, with a combined investment of 63.6 billion yuan, accounting for 30%. The projects cover transportation, water conservancy, energy, information, and logistics, aiming to develop a networked and modernized infrastructure system capable of relocating industries.
There are 58 projects related to people’s livelihood and social welfare, with a total investment of 9.2 billion yuan, accounting for 4%. The projects cover affordable housing, renovation of aging residential communities, public health, and vocational education. These are of pressing and high public concern and have a bearing on a great number of people.
There are 27 ecological environment protection projects, with investment totaling 3.9 billion yuan, accounting for 2%. The projects cover drainage basin restoration, resource recycling and utilization, urban sewage treatment, and energy conservation and emission reduction.
These projects will further support Hunan's economic development goal of seeking progress while maintaining stability and inject new impetus into high-quality development.
