A special event for Changsha's advanced energy materials industrial chain took place at the Ningxiang High-tech Industrial Zone recently, as the first event of Changsha industrial salons. "Changsha's advanced energy materials industry has entered the ranks of 100-billion-yuan industries, and the city is going full throttle with Zhuzhou, Xiangtan and Chenzhou to build a national advanced manufacturing industry cluster," said a person in charge of the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology. According to the Changsha Advanced Energy Storage Materials Industry Development Plan during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) period, Changsha is expected to achieve an output value of 150 billion yuan by 2025.

At the event site, key figures, such as the chain leader, university president, bank president, alliance leader, and chairman signed an initiative to jointly promote the development of the advanced energy materials industrial chain. Several projects were signed, including the Hangte Electronic Energy Storage Power Supply Project, the Lithium-ion Battery Auxiliary Materials R&D Center and Production Base Project, and the Hunan Yin'gang Energy Storage Technology Research Center and Production Base.

An advanced energy material industrial pattern featuring "one valley, one base, and multiple supports" has been initially formed in Changsha. The "one valley, one base, and multiple supports" refers to the building of the China (Changsha) Lithium-ion Battery Valley and the Mass Innovation Incubation Base for Advanced Energy Storage Materials in Hunan University Science and Technology Industrial Park, and multiple supports from various development zones in key areas of the advanced energy storage materials industry, with the Ningxiang High-tech Industrial Zone as the core.

Changsha has brought together a slew of leading enterprises such as Shanshan, CNGR, and Changyuan Lico. With the support from Central South University, Hunan University and other colleges and universities, many innovative achievements have been made in high-energy-density and safe lithium-ion batteries and their key material manufacturing technologies.

Changsha topped a list of China's top ten new energy storage cities and the Ningxiang High-tech Industrial Zone ranked among the top ten new energy storage parks nationwide, according to a report released by CCID Consulting in 2022.
