On June 28, the last track panel was poured together with the track of the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan (CZT) Intercity Railway at the Xiangtan North Station. The first phase of the West Ring Line of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Intercity Railway has completed track-laying work, a key step towards the goal of trial operation of the line at the end of this year.

The first phase of the West Ring Line project is an important part of the construction of "Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan on the Track", and it is also one of the "Five Top Ten" projects in Changsha City in 2022. The project starts at Xiangtan North Station of the Shanghai-Kunming High-speed Railway, runs northwards along Tanzhou Avenue, crosses Xiangtan Jiuhua Economic and Technological Development Zone, Xiangjiang New Area Pingpu Cluster, and ends at Shantang Station of Changsha Metro Line 3. The total length of the line is 17.29 kilometers, with 8 stations, including 4 underground stations and 4 elevated stations. There are two transfer stations as planned.

The "Five Top Ten" projects include ten key urban areas, ten key leading industrial projects, ten key sci-tech innovation flagship projects, ten key infrastructure projects, and ten key people's livelihood projects.

The first phase of the West Ring Line project is an essential part of the rail transit system promoting integration of "the four networks" - trunk, intercity, and suburban and urban railways in Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan city cluster. The project is currently progressing smoothly. The main structure construction of the 8 stations has been completed. Now the ancillary work is underway.
In the next step, the civil construction will be accelerated, and electromechanical and decoration tasks will be carried out comprehensively. These efforts aim to ensure the trial operation of the line at the end of the year.
