A work conference on the construction of industrial clusters of Hunan Province was held in Zhuzhou on March 22. It announced that this year the province plans to develop four industrial clusters into world-class ones.
Hunan will focus on systematically expanding and cultivating national advanced manufacturing clusters, adhere to the concept of fostering world-class, national and provincial industrial clusters, and take enterprises, industries, industrial chains, and industrial ecosystem as the focus of efforts. A special action plan on industrial cluster development will be implemented. A strong synergy for constructing industrial clusters at provincial, municipal, and county-level will be formed. Fifty advanced manufacturing clusters at provincial level or above and fifty special clusters for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will be built during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025).
Efforts will be made to develop Changsha's construction machinery, Zhuzhou's advanced rail transit equipment, Changsha's new generation autonomous safety computing system, and Zhuzhou's small and medium-sized aero engine into world-class industrial clusters. Six industrial clusters with competitive advantage and development potential involving advanced energy storage materials, hard materials and tools, power transmission and transformation equipment, new energy vehicles, modern petrochemicals, and biomedicine will be expanded continuously and developed into national ones, with collaborative innovation and quality efficiency increased. About seven provincial advanced manufacturing clusters, 10 special clusters for SMEs, and a batch of provincial industrial cluster training targets will be selected through competition.
In 2022, Hunan's 24 industrial clusters achieved an annual output value of more than 1,173 billion yuan. Among them, Changsha's construction machinery, Zhuzhou's advanced rail transit equipment, Changsha's new generation autonomous safety computing system, and Zhuzhou's small and medium-sized aero engine are national advanced manufacturing clusters and included in the training list of world-class ones. Hunan tied for third place with Zhejiang in this regard, following Jiangsu and Guangdong provinces. Xinhua County's electronic ceramics, Yongxing County's precious metal, and Heshan District's aluminum electrolytic container were established as national special clusters for SMEs.
