An international cooperation and matchmaking conference on building zero-carbon industrial parks and zones was held at the Yongzhou Industrial Pavilion in Yongzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone on November 28, 2025. More than 50 representatives from domestic and international enterprises gathered to explore pathways for zero-carbon development.
The event was organized by the Investment Promotion Agency of the Ministry of Commerce and the People's Government of Yongzhou City, and undertaken by the Yongzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce and the Management Committee of the Yongzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone.
During the conference, keynote speeches were delivered by Xia Qing, former vice president and chief engineer of the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, among others. A thematic introduction on zero-carbon park development of the Yongzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone was presented.
Yongzhou serves as Hunan's southern gateway for opening-up and a bridgehead for collaboration with ASEAN. The city boasts unique advantageous geographic location at the intersection of four major economic zones, namely the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Zone, the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, and the rising central region of China. This strategic location lays the foundation for enterprises to take roots in Yongzhou, expand nationwide, and connect globally. As a nationally designated logistics hub city, Yongzhou boasts a comprehensive multimodal transport system encompassing rail, road, water, and air. The Xiangjiang River waterway provides access to the sea, while the regular China-Europe and China-Africa freight train services establish efficient, low-carbon logistics corridors.
Guided by the dual carbon goals, the Yongzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone is steadily transforming its "zero-carbon zone" vision into reality through concrete actions. The zone has clustered its two dominant industries—advanced equipment manufacturing and advanced electronic components—to foster excellence. The advanced equipment manufacturing sector has gathered 57 intelligent equipment enterprises, with leading companies like Windey Wind Power and Junjie AI driving continuous expansion. The advanced electronic components sector hosts 74 enterprises above designated size, establishing a complete industrial chain spanning materials, components, and end products. It has secured technological leadership in critical areas such as magnetic electronic surface treatment and 5G high-frequency chip-on-board winding, laying a solid foundation for zero-carbon transformation. Regarding green power supply, its rooftop photovoltaic capacity has surpassed 300 megawatts. Combined with energy storage arrangement and abundant carbon sink resources from a 65.53% forest coverage rate, the zone has created a dual-engine drive of "green power + carbon sink."
Since being recognized as a provincial-level green industrial zone in 2021, the Yongzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone has continuously advanced green upgrading. It has cultivated eight provincial-level green factory pilot sites and completed energy-saving renovations for 15 key enterprises. The "photovoltaic-storage-charging" integrated project is accelerating implementation, while a comprehensive solid waste resource utilization system has been established and put into operation. The "energy and carbon management platform" and "intelligent environmental protection platform" are being deployed across the entire zone. The zone has been carrying out continuous carbon reduction across the entire manufacturing chain by promoting high-efficiency energy-saving equipment, conducting public-benefit energy performance diagnostics, increasing the adoption rate of new energy vehicles, and constructing "zero-carbon workshops" and "zero-carbon production lines" in phases.
Aiming at the goal of establishing a provincial-level "zero-carbon industrial zone" by 2027, the Yongzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone will continue to advance energy structure optimization and industrial upgrading while balancing socioeconomic benefits with ecological synergy. To date, the zone has reached collaborative agreements with 12 enterprises, including the State Grid Hunan Electric Power Company Limited and the Huaneng Renewables Corporation Limited, to gather momentum and empower zero-carbon development.
