On November 6, a press conference in the series on Hunan's achievements during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, with a special session by Yongzhou City, was held in Changsha. As an important "connection point" between Hunan and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as well as a "bridgehead" for connecting with ASEAN, Yongzhou City has adhered to southward, overseas, and outward development during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period. It has developed new quality productive forces according to local conditions, deeply integrated high-quality development into national strategies, and achieved simultaneous improvements in the total volume, per capita volume, and quality of economic development.
Based on resource endowments, industrial foundations, and geographical advantages, Yongzhou's county-level economies each have their own characteristics and showcase their unique strengths. Breakthroughs were achieved in national-level small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) characteristic industrial clusters, national-level manufacturing single champion enterprises, and a national-level economic and technological development zone. The number of provincial-level industrial clusters and incubating clusters reached 12, and 16 industrial alliances were established. The "Empowering Enterprises with Intelligence" Campaign has been implemented to transform over 500 industrial enterprises above the designated size, creating 284 intelligent manufacturing enterprises. Qiyang's functional fabric industry has woven a ten-billion-yuan industry from "a single yarn" to "a piece of cloth," becoming the country's largest production base for umbrella fabric. Jianghua's micromotors account for a 12% share of the national market. Lanshan's leather, luggage, and handbag industry cluster has expanded overseas, capturing a 20% market share in Southeast Asia. Dong'an's guitar industrial park has become the country's second-largest hub for mid-to-high-end guitars. Xintian's green panel and home furnishing industry has built an entire industrial ecosystem chain from "a tree" to "a home." Shuangpai's "little bamboos" have created a massive ten-billion-yuan industry.
Focusing on the initiatives of bringing in capital, welcoming tourists, promoting important agricultural products abroad, and helping local enterprises go global, Yongzhou has continuously expanded its high-level opening up. The city's total export value increased from 2.99 billion yuan in 2020 to 22.41 billion yuan in 2024, a 7.5-fold increase. With the support of the provincial "Ten Measures for Vegetables" policy, vegetable exports account for over 87% of the province's total, and the export value of fruits and vegetables has consistently ranked first among prefecture-level cities nationwide. The ASEAN-Hunan Famous and High-quality Products Trade Fair has been permanently established in Yongzhou. From 2020 to 2025, the average annual growth rate of tourist arrivals was 13.8%, with annual trips made by tourists from the Greater Bay Area exceeding 8.5 million. Recently, the Yongzhou division of the Hunan Football League went viral, garnering over 5 billion online views so far and stimulating 6.2 billion yuan in consumption. The city has also made dedicated efforts to build two major ecological brands: the "Source of the Xiangjiang River" and the "Ancient Bird Migration Route." Its surface water quality has ranked among the top 30 prefecture-level and above cities nationwide for seven consecutive years, and the air quality across the entire city has reached the national grade II standard, recreating the beautiful scene described in the lines "A creak of the oar, and mountains and rivers turn green" and "White clouds fly over Jiuyi Mountain"!
