On October 17, a press conference in the series on Hunan's achievements during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, with a special session by Zhuzhou City was held in Changsha. The theme of the session was "Vigorously Cultivating a Famous Manufacturing City and Accelerating the Construction of a Happy Zhuzhou." According to information released at the conference, Zhuzhou's gross domestic product (GDP) grew from 301.2 billion CNY in 2020 to 390.24 billion CNY in 2024, with an average annual growth rate of 5.8%, and is expected to exceed 400 billion CNY this year. The per capita GDP increased from 77,000 CNY in 2020 to 101,000 CNY, with an average annual growth rate of 6.2%.

In the past five years, Zhuzhou has led industrial innovation with technological innovation, accelerating the construction of a "3+3+2" modern industrial system. The city strives to build a nationally important advanced manufacturing hub and a technological innovation hub with core competitiveness. Its ranking among the top 100 advanced manufacturing cities in China rose to 37th place, and its ranking on the national urban innovation capability top 100 list rose to 35th place. Zhuzhou has cultivated three national advanced manufacturing clusters—rail transit equipment, small and medium-sized aviation engines, and ultra-high voltage power transmission and transformation equipment (in collaboration with Hengyang, Changsha, and Xiangtan cities). It also boasts three national characteristic industrial clusters for small and medium-sized enterprises, namely, ceramics, advanced hard materials, and power semiconductors. There are 15 national and provincial industrial clusters in Zhuzhou, ranking among the top for similar cities nationwide. The "new three" industries—BeiDou, new energy equipment, and low-altitude economy—have developed rapidly, with the BeiDou industry growing from scratch and forming a clustered chain. The scale of the electric power, new energy, and equipment manufacturing industry has exceeded 100 billion CNY, bringing the number of 100-billion-CNY industrial clusters to three. The "connectivity index" of the low-altitude economy ranks 36th nationwide.

Zhuzhou has fully leveraged its "factory-institute integration" innovation advantage to vigorously develop new quality productive forces. The intensity of investment into research and development across society has remained stable at over 3%, taking the lead across the province. The force-energy experimental apparatus and the aero-engine icing wind tunnel device have been incorporated into the province's "4+4 Sci-Tech Innovation Project." There are more than 1,000 national, provincial, and municipal innovation platforms in Zhuzhou, with the number maintaining forefront in the province. The number of high-tech enterprises increased from 726 in 2020 to 1,274 in 2024, ranking second in the province. A large number of landmark achievements have emerged, including the world's most powerful electric locomotive.
