The 2024 China Convention and Exhibition City Industrial Cooperation Conference was held in Chengdu recently. At the conference, the 2023 report on Chinese cities' convention and exhibition industry competitiveness index was released.
According to the report, Changsha's competitiveness index for the convention and exhibition industry ranked first in central China for a second time and eighth in China, following Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Nanjing, and Hangzhou. The city was named "China's most competitive convention and exhibition city" for 12 consecutive years.
In recent years, under the strong leadership of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee and the Changsha Municipal People's Government, Changsha has been committed to the goal of "fostering a 100-billion-yuan convention and exhibition industry and building a famous international convention and exhibition city", and made concerted efforts to manage projects, strengthen entities, gather talents, expand platforms, optimize services, and adhere to the bottom line. Thanks to these efforts, the city's convention and exhibition industry has seen steady improvement in both quality and efficiency. In 2023, nearly 5,000 convention and exhibition enterprises across the city achieved a total income of 83.144 billion CNY.
From January to October this year, Changsha hosted 209 exhibition projects and 17,422 meetings and forums, increasing 14.21% and 5.18%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. A vibrant tapestry of international and national exhibitions and conferences have been held in Changsha, including the 7th China-Africa People's Forum & China-Africa Young Leaders Forum, the Central China Investment and Trade Exposition, the Internet Yuelu Summit, the Asia Steel International Conference, the World Computing Conference, the China New Media Conference, and the China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition.
