The China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Africa (Kenya) 2024 will be held at the Edge Convention Center in Nairobi, capital city of Kenya, between May 9 and 11. More than 2,000 people were expected to participate in relevant activities.

Themed "China and Africa join hands to create a better future", a series of activities will be organized in the form of "1+3+1", including an opening ceremony, three thematic activities, and an exhibition. In specific, they are:

- The China-Africa Investment and Trade Promotion, Cooperation, and Exchange Conference and the Kenya International Investment Conference, during which a signing ceremony for major cooperation projects will be held;

- Three thematic promotion and matchmaking activities respectively organized by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Hunan Province, the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the Hunan Sub-council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, focusing on such themes as China-Africa agricultural cooperation, culture and tourism promotion, and enterprise consultation; and,

- An exhibition, with a total exhibition area of 5,600 square meters. There will be a special booth of Hunan image, 192 standard booths, and 18 outdoor machinery booths.

So far, 618 people from 46 domestic and provincial groups and 212 domestic and overseas enterprise exhibitors have registered to join the events in Kenya. A total of 80 projects and achievements have been collected, reviewed, and approved, of which 37 projects valued at 891 million USD in total are expected to be signed on-site during the activities in Africa. There will be 34 projects to be negotiated, 3 achievements to be released, and 6 projects worth 511 million USD to be signed outside Africa. The Kenyan organizer has issued invitations to 20 African countries to participate in the conference.

"The CAETE in Africa event will strive to build a sub-brand of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and enhance the brand influence of the expo in Africa," said Shen Yumou, director of the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province, adding that during the event, the CAETE mascot will be released for the first time. Meanwhile, the event will lead a group of Chinese enterprises based in or outside of Hunan to visit Africa, experiencing the vitality and huge market potential of the continent. He believed the event will provide a new platform for enterprises to explore the African market.

Inaugurated in 2019, CAETE has been successfully held in Changsha for three sessions. More than 2,500 enterprises from China and Africa attended the event, with 336 cooperation projects worth 53.3 billion USD signed. It has become a new window for China's regional economic and trade cooperation with Africa and formed an organization pattern featuring "hosted by the People's Government of Hunan Province, participated by provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) nationwide, and benefiting both China and Africa".
