Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, located in the remote Wuling Mountain region in western Hunan, has been of great significance as a crucial link between Hunan and Sichuan provinces since ancient times.

The Aizhai Grand Bridge, spanning the Dehang Canyon in Xiangxi, opened to traffic in 2012. It has a main span of 1,176 meters and was built at an elevation of 355 meters above the valley floor.

In the rainy season in July, the bridge is often seen shrouded in mist and clouds, looking like a rainbow in the sky.
