Rebala Scenic Area

Rebala Scenic Area is located in Miao'ertan Town, Longshan County, which is a gathering place of the Tujia ethnic group in the hinterland of Wuling Mountain. The most distinctive buildings in the scenic area are the ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Currently, there are 450 Tujia dwellings, 15 important buildings from the Ming Dynasty, 158 buildings from the Qing Dynasty, 134 buildings from the Republic of China, and Tujia landmark buildings such as the ruins of the Baishou (Hand-waving) Hall, an ancient altar, ancient village lanes, an ancient wharf, an ancient oil mill, and an ancient grain mill. The scenic area has won the titles of "National Historical and Cultural Village", "National Ethnic-minority Characteristic Village", "National Characteristic Tourism Village", "Hometown of Chinese Folk Culture and Art", and "Hometown of Chinese Tujia Brocade," and is included in the "First Batch of China's Traditional Villages."
