Xiaoxi National Wilderness Area
Founded in 1982, Xaioxi National Wilderness Area was approved as a National Nature Reserve in June 2001.
The Wilderness Area, boasting beautiful and pristine natural scenery, is an ideal tourist destination for relaxation and exploration.
Located at the southeast of Yongshun County, Xiaoxi National Wilderness Area is adjacent to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and Mengdong River Scenic Area. The ecotourism area features primeval secondary forests, canyons, and peak-forest landforms. With forest coverage rate of 92.5%, the natural reserve enjoys good eco-environment and the fresh air here has a high concentration of negative oxygen ions.
Covering an area of 7,220 hectares, the Wilderness Area has 1,500 species of plants, including 419 species of woody plants, and 208 species of vertebrate animals.
