Tujia Ciba

Every Tujia family will make "Ciba" (glutinous rice cake) to celebrate the Spring Festival every year.

Making ciba is very labor consuming, so it is usually done by young men. The glutinous rice needs to be first kneaded by hands covered with beeswax or tea oil, then pressed by hand or plank, and pounded by two men using wooden hammers in turns.
