Pingjiang Shiniuzhai National Geo-park, a national 4A-level tourist attraction, is located in Shiniuzhai Town, Pingjiang County. It is at the border areas of Hunan, Hubei, and Jiangxi provinces, covering an area of 51.53 square kilometers. The park encompasses first-class, second-class, and third-class protected areas, each with specific and appropriate measures in place to ensure their preservation. According to the planning, the park has been divided into four functional zones, namely, service zone, geological relics sightseeing zone, science popularization ecological zone, and resident reservation zone. Shiniuzhai is dominated by Danxia landform which is characterized by reddish sandstone features and adorned with water landscape. Rich in beautiful natural scenery and red or revolutionary cultural relics, it is a comprehensive national geo-park integrating science popularization, scientific research, sightseeing, and red culture. Its Danxia landform composed of oddly shaped stones, grotesque rocks, and caves is breathtaking. Pingjiang Shiniuzhai National Geo-park has been honored with the designation of being a national natural resource science popularization base.
