Dechang Martyr Memorial Park

Dechang Martyr Memorial Park is a typical scenic spot for red tourism in Yiyang. It is located in the northwest of Nanxian County, Yiyang. The martyr Duan Dechang was born into Jiudushan, Nanxian County on August 19th, 1904. In 1924, he joined the revolution and made huge contributions to the building of Hunan-Hubei-Jiangxi Revolution Base. In 1933, he died a martyr’s death in Hubei because of the prosecution from the leftists. In 1945, the seventh plenary session of the sixth Central Committee of CPC rehabilitated Duan Dechang. In 1952, Mao Zedong issued a Certificate of Honor to him. In 1989, the Central Military Commission granted him as one the national 33 militarist strategists. In 1983, the county government built Dechang Martyr Memorial Park in memory of martyr Dechang.

The Park covers a land of 500 mu (about 33.3 hectares), with over 40 scenic spots. The Park is divided into two parts: memorial park and amusement park. The former includes: a bronze statue, cenotaph, grave, pavilion and the museum. The latter includes: swimming pool, adventure playground and Ziqi Tower. It is a scenic spot which integrates both elements of natural landscape and cultural importance. It is also an important base for patriotism education.
