Meijiang River National Geopark

Located northwest of Lianyuan City, Meijiang River covers an area of 128 square kilometers. Home to 3 national geological relics and 20 provincial geological relics, Meijiang River National Geopark was approved as the only geopark of its kind in central Hunan in 2013. The scale, type and texture of karst rocks in the geopark are of nationwide and even worldwide importance.

The Meijiang River Scenic Area has a hilly karst landform, and embraces 10 sub-areas, such as Immortal Village, Avalokitesvara Precipice, Sutra Cave, Immortal's Residence, and Incense Burner Mountain. Like a jade belt, the Meijiang River passes by these tourist attractions and links them with each other.

The scenic spot enjoys convenient transportation and is equipped with comprehensive facilities to meet tourists' needs for food, accommodation, recreation and shopping.

The picturesque and spectacular scenery features unique karst lake, natural and amazing waterfalls and limpid creeks and rolling peaks, earning itself the title of being one of Dong'an's Eight Views and an ideal for landscape painters.
