Huangyan Tourist Resort in Hecheng District, Huaihua City, was established in 1996. Located in the southeastern part of Hecheng District, the tourist attraction borders Zhongfang County to the east and south, lies close to Zhijiang County to the west, and adjoins Mayang and Chenxi counties to the north. The tourist resort is situated 18 kilometers from downtown Huaihua. The resort holds multiple titles including National 4A-level Tourist Attraction, National Civilized Village, Hunan Provincial Tourism Resort, Hunan Provincial Forest Park, and Hunan Provincial Demonstration Base for Poverty Alleviation Through Tourism.

Huangyan Tourist Resort is endowed with abundant natural resources. The scenic area has an average elevation of 850 meters, with its highest point reaching 1,174 meters. The area features a typical karst highland valley landscape, dotted with clusters of limestone caves. The region boasts lush vegetation, including the pristine secondary forests along the Yali River. With a diverse array of plant species, the site features a forest coverage rate of more than 98%. With an average temperature 5-7°C lower than the city proper and over 10,000 negative oxygen ions per cubic centimeter, the region has earned a reputation as one of Hunan's top eight summer retreats.
