Xiangya Hospital of Central South University is a large Class-A Grade-3 (top level in China) general hospital, which is under direct supervision of the National Health Commission of China and affiliated to the Central South University (CSU). Located in the ancient city of Changsha, Xiangya was founded by the Yale-China Association in 1906 as Yali Hospital and is one of the oldest hospitals in China practicing western medicine. In 1914, Hunan Yuqun Society and Yale-China Association jointly established Xiangya Medical College (the predecessor of Xiangya School of Medicine, CSU), and Yali Hospital was then renamed Xiangya Hospital.
