Covering an area of 5,535 mu (369 ha.), the park is Hunan's largest urban ecological lake. Since 2016, the lake has been planted with such aquatic plants as cattails and reeds, so that the water body can realize self-purification and the water quality can meet surface water quality standards for Class III. So far, more than 40 species of birds have been spotted. The park has become a wonderland for wildlife.
