German Hannover Street in Changde

A commercial street characterized with Germany’s Hannover style was open to the public on Oct. 18, 2016 in Changde, Hunan. Changde is home to a population of about six million people.

Located on the bank of Chuanzi River, the Hannover street is about 450 meters long and 50 meters wide. Its 16 individual buildings are organized around Hannover Square in the center, extending along the banks of Chuanzi River. These modern architectures, together with the river form a beautiful landscape in the city. On the street, a series of urban space elements which are full of European characteristics are equipped, including narrow lane, mini square, fountain and outdoor armchairs. Many building materials, such as bronze tiles, external tiles, and thermal insulation system, are imported from Germany to remain the architectural style of German buildings.

At present, 42 German enterprises have been introduced to the street, engaging in foodstuff, clothing, electronic products, catering and bars, cultural activities. It is said that 50 percent of the shops in the street are operated by German and 60 percent of the total products are imported from Germany.
