Yangming Mountain National Forest Park in Shuangpai County

Located in Shuangpai County, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, Yangming Mountain National Forest Park is known as "a supernatural mountain and a blessed place". It has been a divine place for Buddhist pilgrims since the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220 AD), when 108 temples were built, including Wanshou Temple, Xiema Nunnery, and Baiyun Temple. Xiema Nunnery was built by Princess Miaozhu of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD) after she fled forced marriage to the mountain. In spite that most temples remain as ruins now, the Buddhist atmosphere here in still remarkable.

The five spectacle natural landscapes are a flower sea of azaleas covering over 10,000 mu (about 666.67 hectares), a bamboo sea with an area of 100,000 mu (about 6,666.67 hectares), gurgling streams and splashing waterfalls, splendid hills and rare stocks, and fog sea in a cloud-surrounded mountain. The old well in Wanshou Temple does not dry up even in hot summer, with sweet flowing spring, thus earning the good name of "divine spring in Yangming Mountain." There are a number of waterfalls. It was called "Jiuzhaigou Valley in Hunan" by tourism experts.
