Hunan saw 25,000 inbound passenger trips through the province's ports during the May Day holiday, a year-on-year increase of 1.6 times, according to the Hunan General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection.
A total of 15,000 passenger trips were made through Changsha port, a year-on-year increase of 1.4 times. Nearly 9,700 passenger trips were made through Zhangjiajie port, a 2.1 times increase over the previous year. The two ports both saw their passenger flow peak between 22:00 and 23:30.
On May 2, Hunan's ports witnessed a daily passenger flow of 5,700, hitting a record high.
Hunan recorded an increase of 1.1 times in outbound trips, with domestic tourists mostly heading for Thailand, Vietnam, Kenya, the UK, and Singapore.
Hunan was attractive to foreign tourists, especially people from the Republic of Korea. The province registered a year-on-year increase of four times in visits by inbound foreign travelers, including a 15 times increase in trips made by Korean tourists and a 6 times increase in visits by Thai tourists. Inbound foreign tourists were mainly from Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
