An ecological travel route to explore world's wonders in Hunan was shortlisted for the 14 characteristic ecological travel routes launched the National Forestry and Grassland Administration.
The travel route starts from Wulingyuan Scenic Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the north, passes through Laosicheng, a World Cultural Heritage Site; Furong Town; Red Carbonate-Rock Stone Forest National Geopark; Lvdong Mountain Scenic Area; Shibadong Village, a national 5A tourist attraction; Aizhai National Forest Park; Fenghuang Ancient Town—Nanhua Mountain Scenic Area, a national 5A tourist attraction; and ends at Wanfo Mountain-Dong Village Scenic Area in the south. The route involves one world heritage site, one world cultural heritage site, and five natural reserves.
Relying on Zhangjiajie-Jishou-Huaihua High-speed Railway, Qianjiang-Zhangjiajie-Changde Railway, Zhangjiajie-Huayuan Expressway, and Baotou-Maoming Expressway, the travel route connects quality tourism resources in Greater Xiangxi Area. It highlights forest tourism, sightseeing, ethnic culture experience, and world heritages.
