Zhou Fan, a young actor from the Hunan Opera Protection and Inheritance Center of Changsha, was awarded the 10th China Theater Awards - Plum Blossom Performance Award (also known as the 32nd China Theater Plum Blossom Award) with her outstanding performance in My Lady: Seeing Me Through My Words. This prestigious award marks the first time in 29 years that an actor from Changsha specializing in Hunan Opera has received this highest recognition in Chinese drama.

My Lady: Seeing Me Through My Words is a modern historical Hunan Opera based on the life story of Li Run, wife of Tan Sitong. Tan is a reformist and one of the "Six Martyrs of 1898." The drama draws its title from Tan Sitong's letters to Li Run and portrays Li's dedication to continuing Tan's unfinished work after his death. Celebrated as a "perfect woman" for her pioneering efforts in gender equality and women's liberation, Li Run's story is one of profound transformation. The drama explores her evolution from a traditional noblewoman to a figure of spiritual liberation and personal independence.

With a history spanning over 600 years, Hunan Opera is a vital local opera genre in Hunan Province. Its four major vocal systems – Gaoqiang, Kunqiang, Dipaizi, and Tanqiang – collectively embody the essence of Hunan culture.
