Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition Opens in Hengyang City

A painting and calligraphy exhibition, part of the third Hunan Tourism Development Conference, opened at Baishi Art Center in Hengyang City on September 19. The exhibition features 80 painting and calligraphy works, and will last till October 4.

The exhibition is co-hosted by the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Hunan Provincial Research Institute of Culture and History, Hunan Daily, and the People's Government of Hengyang City. The event aims to promote positive interplay between culture and tourism, increase the popularity of a historical and cultural calling card, and boost the third Hunan Tourism Development Conference.

Prior to the exhibition, a number of working staff members with the Hunan Provincial Research Institute of Culture and History, along with special research fellows, and artists were organized to Hengyang City for the creation of poems, couplets, paintings, and calligraphy works. Thirty-five calligraphy works and forty-five paintings were selected for the exhibition. These artworks showcased folk customs, natural scenery, and profound cultural heritage of Hengyang City from different aspects.
