An exhibition tour featuring artistic creations of Hubei, Hunan, and Jiangxi provinces opened at the Changsha Art Museum on August 11. Renowned curators and artists from across the country attended a symposium held on that day, discussing topics about the exhibition.
Led by the Hubei Institute of Fine Arts, the exhibition is jointly hosted by the Changsha Art Museum, Jiangxi Provincial Art Museum, and art museums of universities of Hubei, Hunan, and Jiangxi provinces. The exhibition will be held seven times successively in the three provinces. It made debut in Hunan between July 20 and August 30, being simultaneously held at the Changsha Art Museum and the Xuefu Art Museum of the Fine Arts Academy of Hunan Normal University.
The exhibition aims to allow more people to gain an understanding of history and culture, folk customs, and development achievements of central China, and experience the growth momentum and vitality in the rise of central China. It is the first time to display artistic works and historical materials of Hubei, Hunan, and Jiangxi provinces, showcasing the three provinces' socialism development. It is also the first joint exhibition organized by art museums of universities of the three provinces, with the aim of promoting art education among the youngsters.
About 200 pieces of works are being exhibited in Hunan, covering such artistic forms as traditional Chinese painting, oil painting, woodblock painting, sculpture, watercolor painting, paper-cutting, and poster.
More than 1,000 historical objects are on display, including manuscripts, old photos, books and periodicals, newspapers, and souvenir medals. Documents on creations and backgrounds of artistic works of the three provinces are compiled, with nearly 50,000 Chinese characters in total. An immersive cinema is set up to enable the audience to explore the development course of socialist economic construction. An online show based on virtual reality technology is launched to offer a new visual experience.
The exhibition brings the artistic creations back to life, serving as a way to tell well Hubei, Hunan, and Jiangxi's stories in socialist economic construction and showing the unique charm of central China. The exhibits fully demonstrate central China's beautiful natural scenery, profound culture, and development momentum. The exhibition is in praise of natural landscape of central China and the spirit of its people, as well as a record of the rise of the region.
