Cultural tourism authorities at all levels in Hunan Province will launch more than 220 cultural events, 104 exhibitions at museums and memorial halls, and over 300 intangible cultural heritage-themed shows during this year's Spring Festival.
On January 16, the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism announced the arrangements of cultural tourism events during the Spring Festival holiday 2023.
Li Aiwu, secretary of the CPC Leadership Group and director of the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, said that the colorful intangible cultural heritage-themed shows will bring a feast of charming Hunan Spring Festival customs to the public.
The Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, together with the Hunan Provincial Department of Rural Revitalization, the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce, and the Hunan Xiangjiang New Area Management Committee, will launch a series of online activities promoting intangible cultural heritage. The Hunan Cultural Center will host the 2023 Hunan Intangible Culture Heritage Lantern Festival.
Museums and memorial halls across the province will organize 104 exhibitions and Spring Festival-themed activities. Local authorities will hold folk culture events including riddle guessing, paper-cutting, dragon dance, lion dance, and Taige performances.
Ten golden travel routes will be launched, including a tour to internet-famous places in Changsha, Shaoyang and Hengyang, a tour to explore world heritage sites in the Greater Xiangxi Region, and a leisure outdoor tour to the Greater Southern Hunan Region.
Changsha integrates its cultural tourism resources to promote four categories of travel routes by the four directions of east, west, south, and north. There are half-day routes covering 45 tourist attractions, ten one-day routes and four two-day ones.
Zhangjiajie has released ten winter travel routes featuring peaks, mountains, water, snow, hot springs, and sports and fitness. Shaoshan Tourist Area will carry out cultural tourism activities to greet the Chinese Lunar New Year and the 2023 Lantern Festival, and offer free admission to tourists.
The Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism plans to issue vouchers worth 20 million yuan to boost tourism and cultural consumption. The recipient may use it for the purchase of services at cultural centers, travel agencies, tourist attractions, and hotels. Cultural tourism enterprises are encouraged to roll out promotional activities. The campaign will financially support people's consumptions, stimulate spending in cultural tourism, and promote a boom in supply and demand in Hunan's cultural tourism market.
In 2023, Hunan will roll out nearly 10,000 art performances and send more than 20,000 free calligraphic works and paintings, benefiting over four million people.
