On May 30, Zhou Haibing, vice governor of Hunan Province and mayor of Changsha City, met in Changsha with a British delegation led by Lewis Neal, HM Trade Commissioner for China and Hong Kong.

Vice Governor Zhou, on behalf of the provincial government, extended his warm welcome to the British economic and trade delegation. Zhou noted that Hunan boasts superior geographical location, abundant natural resources, solid industrial foundations, and strong innovation vitality, and maintains frequent exchanges with foreign countries. Zhou added that Hunan is currently making continuous efforts to build "three hubs" and strives to write its own chapter in advancing Chinese modernization. China is the UK's largest trading partner in Asia, and the pragmatic cooperation between Hunan and the UK in economic and trade fields has brought benefits to the people of both regions. It is expected that the two sides will take the 13th Central China Investment and Trade Exposition (Expo Central China 2024) as an opportunity to strengthen industrial matchmaking, deepen economic and trade cooperation, and strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, promoting in-depth cooperation in more fields and pushing forward China-UK relations along the right track.

Lewis Neal said that he is looking forward to participating in the Expo Central China 2024 in Changsha. He hoped that the two sides will make greater progress in cooperation in fields such as education, science and technology, and medical care.
