The inaugural meeting of the Subcommittee of the Association of North East Asia Regional Governments (NEAR) on Innovation Plus and the "Green Development" Conference were held in Zhangjiajie on October 23. The attendees included nearly 100 guests from 22 NEAR member local governments and related international organizations from China, Japan, South Korea, Mongolia, and Russia. Li Jianzhong, vice governor of Hunan Province, delivered a speech and met with participating foreign representatives.
The ceremony was co-hosted by the Hunan Provincial People's Government and the NEAR. Four special conferences were held simultaneously, including a briefing on Hunan's investment environment; a session on sharing experiences of non-governmental exchanges; a session on sharing practices in ecological civilization and the sustainable development of tourism resources; and a session on sharing technical innovation cases of the 6th ASEM Seminar on Urban Water Management.
Li Jianzhong noted that Hunan will give full play to the role of the subcommittee as a coordinator to further deepen mutual trust and cooperation with NEAR local governments, establishing mechanisms for cooperation and promoting the sharing of innovation experience and achievements. Li added that Hunan will further strengthen economic and trade exchanges and advocate a more open, transparent and predictable policy orientation, supporting and encouraging capable innovation-driven enterprises to invest in NEAR member regions. He noted that Hunan will take innovation as the guide to deepen exchanges in the fields of science and technology, culture, and education, to strengthen exchanges among young people, and to build a closer bond between the peoples.
