"As I traveled along the Zhangjiajie-Langshan-Guilin corridor, the Danxia landforms of Langshan Mountain captivated me completely," exclaimed Xu Jianguo, a tourist from Hong Kong. Xu made the remark recently as he gazed at the peaks shrouded in mist at Bajiaozhai, a core scenic spot in Langshan Mountain Scenic Area, Xinning County.
As summer draws to a close, Langshan Mountain's popularity shows no signs of waning. With Hong Kong tour groups visiting the scenic area in succession and the "Exploring Zhangjiajie-Langshan-Guilin Tourism Route, Langshan Is So Much Fun" Music Season having just wrapped up, both visitor numbers and revenue have surged. At the Chili Peak Scenic Spot, visitors marveled at the 180-meter-tall Danxia rock formation, and they couldn't stop snapping photos. Riding the cable car up to Bajiaozhai, the visitors were amazed that the peaks appeared and disappeared amidst the clouds and mist, resembling a slowly unfolding ink-wash painting.
"Langshan Mountain is not only beautiful but also has fresh air. You can't see Chili Peak anywhere else— this trip is absolutely worth it," said a Hong Kong tourist surnamed Liang. With the opening of the Zhangjiajie-Langshan-Guilin golden tourism corridor, Langshan Mountain is now more accessible to the Greater Bay Area, making this Danxia landscape in southwestern Hunan a new favorite among Hong Kong tourists.
With mountains and rivers as the backdrop, music enlivens the Fuyi River. The music season concluded on the evening of August 13. Over a dozen days, the Danxia landscape turned into a natural stage, with songs like "You Don't Leave" and "Lang Li Ge Lang" performed round after round. Singers from Zhangjiajie, Xinning, and Guilin shared the stage, with Tujia folk songs, Langshan Dong songs, and Guiling folk songs performed one after another, celebrating the interconnected landscapes and shared affinity among the three places.
"All 11 performances were packed, with tens of thousands of people gathering along the Fuyi River to enjoy the festivities," said Xiao Haibin, chairman of Langshan Tourism and Culture Group. He noted that night markets, snacks, and water activities were all offered at the performance site, attracting tourists from Hong Kong and Southeast Asia who came specifically to join the fun.
The event boosted consumption. From August 2 to 13, the music season drew 44,000 attendees, with out-of-town visitors accounting for 23.5%, including tourists from Hong Kong and Taiwan, China. Each performance generated over 800,000 yuan in consumption, totaling more than 10 million yuan. From August 1 to 15, Langshan Mountain Scenic Area received 224,200 tourist trips, more than doubling that of the same period last year; and revenue reached 2.8823 million yuan, up 80% year on year.
The music season set the stage, and the natural scenery took the spotlight. Langshan Mountain uses "landscape + performance" to light up the nights along the national tourism corridor, making the Zhangjiajie-Langshan-Guilin route increasingly delightful for travelers.
