Featuring clear water, lush greenery, and scenic walkways, the Jichuan River Ecological Wetland is now officially open to the public. Nearby residents now have another great spot for walks and waterfront views!

The Jichuan River Ecological Wetland is located in the core of the Daowu Area, Jili Neighborhood, Liuyang City, and serves as a key residential sector connecting downtown Liuyang and Jinyang New Town.

As an important tributary of the Liuyang River, the Jichuan River Wetland was developed beyond mere landscaping. The project simultaneously completed comprehensive river channel treatment, dredged ditches within the area, built new ecological weirs, and activated the internal water circulation system, enhancing the ecological corridor of the Liuyang River tributary. This ensures that the inland waterways have a constant flow of fresh water and the banks remain lush year-round.

Stepping into this wetland covering approximately 130,000 square meters, visitors are greeted by a nearly 21,700-square-meter main lake and 79,000 square meters of greenery artfully spread across the landscape. With an 85.9% green space ratio combined with tiered, clustered vegetation, scenic views unfold at every turn. The wetland features a lakeside track, a leisure beach, landscape boardwalks, and a playground, aiming to create an all-age-friendly environment that meets the daily recreational needs of various groups.

In the future, this ecological space will also host neighborhood cooling sessions, parent-child science popularization activities, and other events, creating a new space to build community ties and serve local residents.

The wetland is more than just a leisure and scenic backyard garden for the city; it is also a crucial stormwater buffer for the area. The entire project integrates the ideas of sponge city construction, achieving a total rainwater regulation and storage capacity of 17,000 cubic meters. During flood seasons, it can efficiently collect rainwater and alleviate urban waterlogging, while daily, it continuously purifies the water quality of the tributary which flows into the Liuyang River, safeguarding the ecological balance of the entire watershed.
