From January to June this year, the China-Europe (Changsha) freight train service handled 584 import and export train trips, a year-on-year increase of 61.33%, with cargo value up 39.24% to 1.370 billion USD. "Construction machinery, automotive parts, and large equipment were the main exports this year," said Chen Hongsheng, deputy general manager of the Hunan Zhongnan International Land Port Co., Ltd.
Zeng Linghong, director of Changsha Railway North Station, noted that the China-Europe (Changsha) freight train service consistently operates two trips daily, with up to three to four trips during peak periods. The cumulative number has exceeded 4,000 trips and continues to rise steadily, ranking among the top tier in the China-Europe freight train service nationwide for seven consecutive years.
The China-Europe (Changsha) freight train service highlights customized services. Leveraging Hunan's strengths in equipment manufacturing, the railway and customs authorities have closely collaborated with leading local enterprises like the Sany Group, Zoomlion, and Geely Automobile, developing tailored transport solutions, to ensure cross-border transportation of large equipment and high-value-added goods.
Compared to sea freight, the China-Europe freight train service reduces transport time by over 20 days and lowers overall costs by approximately 15%, significantly enhancing the competitiveness of overseas deliveries. Sunward, a Hunan-based leading equipment manufacturer, transports 30% of its export products through the China-Europe freight train service.
"Efficient data processing leads to shorter waiting time for freight trains. The cargo customs clearance time at ports has been cut from half a day to within 30 minutes, with the entire clearance process completed in as little as a few minutes," said Yu Wenliang, an official at the Comprehensive Business Section II of the Xingsha Customs Authority. Efficient and convenient customs clearance services, along with stable and reliable timeliness, contribute to the smooth cargo transport via the China-Europe freight train service, greatly improving the operational efficiency of cross-border logistics while reducing costs and increasing efficiency for various market entities.
