Shen Xiaoming, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, met with Brad Davey, executive vice president of the ArcelorMittal Group, and his party in Changsha on the afternoon of January 14, 2024.

On January 14, Secretary Shen met in Changsha with ArcelorMittal Executive Vice President Davey.

Secretary Shen, on behalf of the provincial Party committee and the provincial government, welcomed the guests and briefed them on the economic and social development of Hunan Province, especially Changsha's global research and development center construction. He noted that Changsha is rich in scientific and educational resources, its universities supporting broad expertise across a range of disciplines. The city boasts desirable living and working conditions including better medical care conditions and lower housing prices, making Changsha attractive to young talents. Since the global R&D center construction was launched in the second half of last year, Changsha has induced an array of domestic and overseas R&D institutions to settle and begin operations here. The ArcelorMittal Group has been working closely with Hunan for a long time, Secretary Shen noted, and he expects that the group will continue to actively participate in building Changsha into a global R&D center, promoting the cooperation between the two sides in new areas with greater results. Hunan will continue to optimize the business environment and provide first-class services for the development of foreign enterprises in the province.

Brad Davey thanked Hunan for its long-term support to ArcelorMittal. He remarked that in recent years, Hunan has achieved remarkable results in promoting high-quality development. The group has attached great importance to the friendship and collaboration with Hunan, and is committed to making the Valin ArcelorMittal Automotive Sheet Co., Ltd. a model of Chinese-foreign equity joint ventures. He hoped to continue to enhance the strategic partnership between the two sides, deepening cooperation at a higher level and in more areas, and further realizing mutual benefit and win-win results.
