The 19th Asian Games closed on the evening of October 8. Zhang Yayi, a female artistic swimmer from Changsha, won a gold medal on that day, marking an unprecedented success for Hunan athletes, with the number of gold medals and total medals exceeding that at the 18th Asian Games (17 golds, 8 silvers, and 3 bronzes).

Zhang Lianbiao, deputy director of the Hunan Sports Bureau, said that both veteran players and young athletes from Hunan have gained beneficial experience and won honors at this games. He added, "It is worth noting that 8 gold medals are from the three events of gymnastics, trampoline, and rock climbing, supervised by the Hunan Gymnastics Management Center.
