Main Responsibilities:
1. To direct and coordinate the work of the subordinate group members; to be responsible for the organizational and professional administration of the social science organizations at the provincial level; to be responsible for the organizational and professional administration of private non-enterprise units.
2. To organize and promote subordinate membership to develop social science research and academic activities; to develop services for policy-making of the Party and the government and the provincial socialist material and spiritual civilization.
3. To organize and promote subordinate membership to develop the popularization of social science knowledge and consultation services; to promote the transformation of social science achievements.
4. To organize and promote connections and cooperation between the departments of theoretical work and the departments of practical affairs, the social science circles and the natural science circles; to enhance the work of academic information; to promote academic exchanges both at home and abroad and within and outside Hunan Province.
5. To participate in formulating and implementing development plans for social sciences; to organize subject authorization by the Provincial Assessment Committee of the Social Science Achievements; to organize tackling key problems in major subject research areas; to promote the evaluation of social science achievements.
6. To organize the assessment of excellent social science achievements and the assessment of the achievement transformation of social science application research; to organize the appraisement of outstanding experts in social sciences from Hunan and the outstanding young experts in social science from Hunan.
7. To assist the relevant departments to strengthen the construction of the social science force; to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of social science workers; to report their opinions and requirements to the departments concerned.
