The Yongzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone was officially established in November 1990 and upgraded to the national level in June 2021. It is divided into two areas, the Changfeng Industrial Park in the south and the Lengshuitan High-tech Park in the north. The planned control area is 15.93 square kilometers, while the developed area spans 14.45 square kilometers.
The development zone has been honored as the "Hunan Excellent Zone for Open Economy", "Advanced Commercial Zone in Hunan Province", "Hunan Green Zone", "Hunan Military-Civilian Integration Industry Demonstration Base", "Hunan Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation Demonstration Base", "Advanced Industrial Zone in Hunan Business Environment Evaluation", and "Hunan Advanced Electronic Device Demonstration Base".
In 2023, it topped the province in the evaluation and scoring of the industrial parks and zones on optimizing business environment by the Hunan Government Affairs and Service Administration. There are 235 industrial enterprises above designated size, 116 high-tech enterprises, and 23 R&D institutions and technology centers at the provincial level or above.
New progress has been made in "Three Hubs" construction, namely, building Hunan into a national hub for important and advanced manufacturing industries, a sci-tech and innovation center with core competitiveness, and a pacesetter for reform and opening-up of China's inland regions. The zone has witnessed strong momentum in the development of manufacturing industry, a significant increase in the competitiveness of science and technology innovation, and rapid growth of the open economy.
The "two leading" industries have made new breakthroughs. The advanced equipment manufacturing industry has gathered more than 60 intelligent equipment manufacturing and new energy equipment manufacturing enterprises, forming an industrial cluster led by Windey Wind Power and Sunsico Group. There are more than 80 enterprises above designated size in the electronic information industry with advanced electronic devices as its core, including Zhongtan, Jinlord, and ULUO.
