Resident Income
In 2020, the annual per capita disposable income of population in the province was 29,380 yuan, up by 6.1%, and its median was 23,783 yuan, up 5.2%. The annual per capita disposable income of urban residents was 41,698 yuan, up by 4.7%, and its median reached 37,478 yuan, up 4%. The annual per capita disposable income of rural residents was 16,585 yuan, up by 7.7%, and its median was 14,839 yuan, an increase of 6.6%. The ratio of urban and rural residents’ income shrank from 2.59:1 to 2.51:1. Regionally, the per capita disposable income in Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan (CZT) city cluster reached 45,273 yuan, a year-on-year growth of 5.6%; 27,171 yuan in southern Hunan area (an increase of 6.2%); 20,323 yuan in western Hunan (6.6% growth); as well as 26,695 yuan in Dongting Lake Ecological and Economic Zone, an increase of 6.3%. The annual per capita disposable income of rural residents in poverty-stricken areas was 12,023 yuan, an increase of 9.9%. And the per capita monthly income of migrant workers was 4,889 yuan, up 6.4%.
Resident Consumption
The per capita consumption expenditure of population in Hunan in 2020 was 20,998 yuan, up by 2.5% over the previous year. The per capita consumption expenditure of urban residents was 26,796 yuan, a decrease of 0.5%; and that of rural residents 14,974 yuan, an increase of 7.2%.
Social Securities
By the end of 2020, the number of registered participants in the basic pension programs for urban and rural residents was 34.711 million, an increase of 575,000 over the end of the previous year. The number of people participating in urban basic pension programs for staff and workers was 17.248 million, a year-on-year increase of 1.669 million. Of the total, 12.221 million were staff and workers, and 5.027 million were retirees. A total of 67.318 million people participated in urban basic health insurance programs, including 9.898 million urban staff and workers and 57.421 million urban residents. A total of 6.409 million people participated in unemployment insurance programs, an increase of 343,000; and, a total of 8.20 million people participated in work accident insurance programs. The number of people participated in maternity insurance programs totaled 6.338 million. By the end of 2020, 125,000 staff and workers received unemployment insurance benefits. The total expenditure of lowest subsistence allowances was 2.34 billion yuan for 446 thousand urban residents and 4.65 billion yuan for 1.495 million rural residents. At the end of 2020, adoption agencies of various kinds provided 239,000 beds, adopting 126,000 people. Among them, there were 223,000 beds in elderly care institutions for 117,000 old people. The province had 33,000 community service organizations and facilities. A total of 5.09 billion yuan worth of social welfare lottery tickets were sold, raising 1.6 billion yuan for social welfare. Twelve key tasks for the people’s livelihood were successfully completed. In specific, the quota to children eligible for public kindergarten enrolment reached 392,000, 1.061 million rural household toilets have been renovated or newly constructed, and 417,000 pregnant women have undergone free prenatal screening.
