Liuyang Ranks 5th Among Top 100 Counties in Geographical Indication Industry

An Investigation Report on the 2024 High-Quality Development of the Geographical Indication Industry of Counties in China was Recently released. The report was jointly compiled by the Beijing Zhongjun Institute of Economic Development, a professional county economy and geographical indication research institution, together with a comprehensive website of geographical indications and specialty products.


A list of the top 100 counties in terms of the comprehensive index of the high-quality development in the geographical indication industry was announced. Changsha's Liuyang County-level City made the list, ranking fifth on the list with a comprehensive index score of 804.63.


Geographical indication is a new type of intellectual property related to agriculture, rural areas and farmers, and also a symbol of origin and high quality of local specialty products. It has strong comparative industrial advantages and can effectively benefit both the counties and their residents.


Leveraging its industrial foundation and resource advantages, Liuyang has vigorously boosted the cultivation and development of geographical indication trademarks in recent years. So far, it has 10 national geographical indication products, including Liuyang Firecrackers, Liuyang Fireworks, Liuyang Steamed Dishes, Liuyang Chrysanthemum Stone Carving, Liuyang Xiabu Cloth, and Liuyang camellia oil; and, five national agricultural geological indication products, including Liuyang Kumquat, Dawei Mountain Pear, and Gejia Jichangzi Peppers.


In the first half of this year, Liuyang Black Goat has been approved by the National Intellectual Property Administration to register as a geographical indication trademark.
