Qufeng Rice Vinegar Making Skills Inherited in Taojiang County

Originated in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), the Qufeng rice vinegar has a history of more than 1,000 years. Authentic Qufeng rice vinegar is handmade, following traditional craft and in the right solar term period once a year. Xiong Wanfeng, an inheritor of the Qufeng rice vinegar making skills, returned to his hometown in 2012 to restart his rice vinegar business. So far, he has mobilized more than 200 households around the village to participate in rice vinegar production, inheriting this traditional craft and increasing villagers' income. The annual output value of their rice vinegar has exceeded six million CNY. The photo, taken on March 25, shows Xiong stirring rice vinegar in a vat at Wutan Town, Taojiang County.
